← All FAQs Frequently asked question

Is Kerala good during the monsoon?

Yes, but a monsoon holiday is very different from a conventional dry-season trip.

Kerala becomes exceptionally green during the rainy season, and many travellers enjoy the atmosphere. However, heavy rainfall can occasionally disrupt outdoor activities and transportation.

Always check local weather conditions, particularly before travelling into hill or forest areas.

What makes Kerala different from other Indian destinations?

Kerala combines an unusual variety of experiences within one state: Arabian Sea beaches, extensive backwaters, Western Ghats, tea and spice plantations, tropical forests, wildlife, Ayurveda traditions, distinctive cuisine and a rich cultural heritage.

You can wake up beside the sea, spend another night on a houseboat and then travel into mist-covered mountains.

That diversity is one of the main reasons Kerala continues to attract travellers from India and around the world.

Is Kerala suitable for a road trip?

Yes. A Kerala road trip can combine beaches, backwaters, cities, plantations and mountains within a relatively compact geographical area.

However, distances can be deceptive. Roads through towns and mountainous areas may make journeys considerably longer than the distance alone suggests.

Avoid planning too many destinations in a short itinerary.

Can I visit Kerala on a budget?

Absolutely.

Using trains and buses, eating at local restaurants and choosing hostels, guesthouses or homestays can substantially reduce the cost of travelling through Kerala.

A slower itinerary covering fewer destinations can also reduce transportation expenses.

Is Kerala good for honeymoon couples?

Kerala is one of India's popular honeymoon destinations.

Couples often combine the hills of Munnar, backwaters of Alappuzha or Kumarakom, and beaches such as Varkala, Kovalam or Marari.

Private villas, boutique resorts, treehouses, houseboats and luxury retreats provide additional options for romantic stays.
